New Look for SpeedEndurance.com

Posted: 06 Dec 2009 09:00 PM PST

Speedendurance_News_Screen_Shot_300 It has been two long years with the old Revolution theme, so I thought it was time for a change.

There were several reasons that prompted the change.

First, my Blog looked so 2007-ish… and I wanted to kick 2010 in a high gear.

Second, with the number of YouTube videos in HD, it didn't do justice by having them at 480×385 resolution.  Now I can use the default maximum 640×505 with a slightly larger column.

Third, I had a request from a visually impaired reader to make all my posts readily available in a podcast.  Thanks to Odiogo, all my articles have been converted to MP3, either to listen live or download to your iPhone or MP3 player.  Check it out here.

Another reason is Facebook.  Thus, I have created a Facebook Page.  This page will allow me to post external websites, videos, and photos that I find worthy of reading so I don't clutter the Blog.

Lastly, to answer all the critics, I still opted NOT to have a professional looking banner for my site.  Why?  It's just my way of saying that CONTENT is more important than flashy images and graphics.  A picture may be worth a thousand words, but WORDS tell the story.  Eventually, I will succumb to the masses.

Many thanks to Brian Gardner once again for supplying the original theme.  He's created several beautiful themes but I opted for the most simple layout (on the outside, that is!) .  Crisp and clean, no caffeine, with easy readability and navigation.  Click here to visit StudioPress.

Let me know your thoughts below – good or bad.  I can always revert with a click of the button but not faster than 0.100 seconds.

LeftLane Sports Pioneers Online “Private Sales” for Sporting Goods

Posted: 06 Dec 2009 12:14 PM PST

Sports enthusiasts have a new and different way to shop online for sports gear, saving up to 70% OFF retail

San Luis Obispo, CA — LeftLane Sports has transformed a lifetime of athletic participation, competitive game experience, and sporting goods industry knowledge into an online retail start-up that specializes in premium sports gear. Members of the exclusive site can buy high-quality footwear, equipment, and apparel at up to 70% off traditional retail prices.

LeftLane Sports' online "Private Sale" events have built a loyal following with regular "members-only" sales of limited quantity premium merchandise. Short, powerful sales (often just 56 hours) create an exciting opportunity to buy. When one sale ends, another one starts.

LeftLane Sports membership is free and requires only a name and email address. Membership increases by word of mouth. Current Members who have joined and found their sports products at below-market prices have invited their friends to join and participate in the savings. Membership is limited to an audience of sports enthusiasts who know their sports gear and want great value.

To further connect with the active lifestyle of today's members, LeftLane Sports integrates a variety of interactive features into the site, including a blog where members can connect to other sports enthusiasts and participate in community discussions on a variety of sports-related topics. LeftLane Sports provides daily articles, videos, quotes, and facts to help members get more involved with the sports they love.

Founded in June, 2009 by four friends from the Central Coast of California, LeftLane Sports represents a lifelong dream to allow sports to inspire all of us to lead active and passionate lives in service to the next generation of athletes. LeftLane Sports promises to provide members with the sports gear and information they need to compete and grow as athletes.

ABOUT THE TEAM:

Helio Fialho – An avid sports enthusiast participating in a wide range of sports from a very early age. Helio grew up in the islands of the Azores, Portugal, playing soccer and roller hockey from the time he was three. Upon arrival in the United States in the late sixties at the age of ten, he continued his passion for soccer and began running cross-country. Helio played soccer through college and has maintained running as an integral part of his life. In the mid eighties, Helio discovered off-road mountain biking – the challenge of the sport has allowed him to push his personal boundaries. Helio's love of sports and all that it can teach, allowed him to pursue a successful twelve-year career with Copeland Sports as their COO and then as CEO of ShopSports.com, where he pioneered sports ecommerce with its launch in 1996.

Henry Lane – Henry was the youngest boy of an athletic family. His father was a great athlete and sports captain who led teams to national achievement. His enthusiasm for athletic competition inspired the Lane family to participate in every sport available. Fortunately, a strong foundation of ice hockey participation existed in a small New Jersey community and the love of competition soon followed. For twenty years, multiple sports at increasing levels of competition were a year round passion that fueled Henry. Combining the love of sports with a business career that has developed quality products to fulfill a consumer need has led Henry to LeftLane Sports. Providing the right product, at the right time, for the right opportunity is what builds trust and lets businesses support the customers they serve.

Maggie Bartels – Maggie is a California native who grew up playing sports; she started playing soccer in elementary school when her father volunteered to coach.  Her Father remained coaching her soccer team through high school and was a great mentor to her. Maggie also discovered Tennis at an early age and went on to play at the collegiate level.  Maggie was told by her family at an early age to do something in life that she loved.  This led her down a path to an exciting career in the sporting goods industry spanning over 20 years – initially as a buyer and then as EVP of Merchandising for a major west coast sports retailer.

Erik Fialho – The son of a sports ecommerce pioneer, Erik grew up in the age of the Internet and participated in a wide range of sports activities – playing competitively from an early age in roller hockey, basketball, soccer, and cross-country. Erik is an avid snow skier, wakeboard, and enjoys hiking and camping. With sports always a part of his life, he joined LeftLane Sports because he believed in the vision of creating a unique space for athletes to connect on the internet and access premium sports gear. Erik has a background in Management and Economics, and is focused on using his business talents to combine traditional retail practices with new social media ideas.
