Most people who read this newsletter know that I am a pale, pale lady who instantly incinerates as soon as she steps into direct sunlight. Short of staying inside all summer, or joining a vampire enclave, what's a pallid person to do? Two words: Use sunscreen.

5 Dangerously Common Sunscreen Mistakes
We all think we know how to apply sunscreen, but it turns out many of us are wrong. For example, you don't want to wait til you're actually out in the sun to apply the stuff.

How to Choose the Best Sunscreen
Also, it's a good idea to learn the lingo. Turns out, "waterproof" and "water resistant" don't mean the same thing.

Sunscreen Myths and Facts
Even if your skin doesn't glow in the dark, you need to wear sunscreen. According to our pals at the EPA: "Everybody, regardless of race or ethnicity, is subject to the potential adverse effects of overexposure to the sun." This means you.

I still have freckles from less-than-perfect sunscreen applications, although it could be worse: One of my friends spent a whole summer with his girlfriend's initials burned into his back. She is now an ex-girlfriend.
