My favorite resume of all time was from my friend Steve. He was fresh out of school, and asked me to read it over to make sure that he was putting his best foot forward, etc. The first thing listed? His position as captain of the water polo team.

Which would definitely make me take his resume out of the pile, but I thought maybe he could also highlight some internships. Just in case hiring managers didn't have the same sense of humor as me.

Of course, as you get further along in your career, the challenge isn't to find non-water polo related experience to highlight. It's figuring out what to include and what to leave off.
