The diaper expense is a huge part of a baby budget, but I don't think it's the cost. I think it's the frustration of spending so much for something that's on your baby's bottom for such a brief period of time. The babies do seem to enjoy waiting until you've put on a fresh diaper to continue doing their business. It's like diaper whack-a-mole.

Another thing Cathy pointed out to me: There's apparently a law that all newborn hats and hoodies have ears. I'm not sure when this law went into effect, but every parent I know is terrified to break it. Here's the full list of bear-shaped garments you'll need.
