Seriously: food is the most expensive thing on our list, after rent. This seems unbelievable to me, although I guess I feel better about it than I would if it were after, say, cheap wine or jeggings. (The jeggings budget at our house is out of control! Just kidding. There is no jeggings budget. Shudder.)
The first suggestion we took from this list was No. 4: Plan your menus. It turns out, you're much less likely to order delivery if you have some menus planned in advance.
If you've got the space, buying in bulk is another great idea. It also gives you the comfort of knowing you'll never be out of pretzels and toilet paper.
