When I was a kid, I only wanted store-bought candy. This was partly because we were all terrified that our neighbors were waiting to poison us or stick razor blades in our rice treats, and partly because we were good little consumers and wanted brightly colored packages.

As an alleged grownup, I prefer homemade things. Especially homemade candy-type things, since that means I get to eat them during the manufacturing process.
