Training with Usain Bolt: Obinna Metu BBC Interview

Posted: 23 Mar 2011 04:00 AM PDT

Obinna Metu is a Business Management undergraduate student at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.  His personal best time for 100 meters is 10.16 seconds set in 2008.

Unlike a majority of talented African runners, and especially sprinters, Obinna Metu elected to stay home and not go to the NCAA.

In 2007, G4S launched an innovative sports program to support a group of aspiring young athletes from around the world called G4S 4teen, mentored by Haile Gebrselassie.

Obinna Metu demonstrated the values required to develop and compete at the highest level and thus was selected to join G4S 4teen.

At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, he ran in the 100 meters and the 4×100 meter relay, but the team was disqualified for a bad baton exchange.

Thanks to Internet radio, steaming capture software, and MP3 editing software, we can now listen to this interview.

In this BBC Interview, Obinna Metu talks about  training with Usain Bolt, as well as hanging out and having fun.  He even reveals the secret on why Usain Bolt is Number One in the world.  I won't spoil it, you'll have to listen (or download) the podcast to find out.  It's only 7 minutes long.
