Usain Bolt Penn Relays Video 4×100 meters Posted: 24 Apr 2010 12:03 PM PDT Jamaica breaks the Penn Relays and Franklin Field record with a 37.90 victory (was 37.92 set in 2009 by Walter Dix, Travis Padgett, Shawn Crawford, Darvis Patton). It was reported Usain Bolt’s Anchor Leg was 8.71 seconds. Fastest 100 meter split ever recorded? Sorry, no. At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Asafa Powell's split time was recorded at 8.70 seconds by the USTAF High Performance Registered Split Analysis team. Other Anchor Splits At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, Asafa Powell's anchor split was 8.84 seconds. Carl Lewis’ anchor leg at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics was 8.85 en route to a World Record of 37.40 seconds. “Bullet" Bob Hayes recorded a 8.5 second (hand time) 4×100 meter anchor relay leg at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Converted to FAT, that translates to 8.74 seconds. Partial results here… USA vs. the World Men 4×100 (full results here)

2010 NFL Draft – CJ Spiller, Jahvid Best Top Picks Posted: 24 Apr 2010 09:00 AM PDT
C.J. Spiller (RB) was selected 9th overall with Jahvid Best (RB) the 30th pick at the 2010 NFL Draft First Round selection. For former Sprinters, the Top 5 favorites from the NFL Combine in my pool were Clemson's Jacoby Ford (WR), LSU's Trindon Holliday (WR), Clemson's CJ Spiller (RB), Cal's Jahvid Best (RB), USC's Taylor Mays (FS). Both Spiller and Best are Running Backs and with their sprinting background, they have a second gear once they can get through the tackles. The Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions have a great ground game, so it will be exciting to see these player mature through the years. The only two Wide Receivers selected in the first round were Demaryius Thomas (22nd) of Georgia Tech and Dez Bryant (24th) of Oklahoma St. For Safeties, Eric Berry of Tennessee (5th) and Earl Thomas (14th) of Texas were the other first round picks. Congrats to all of these fine athletes as they will make a lot more money playing Pro Football than Track and Field. Especially with Usain Bolt dominating the 100 and 200 meters!
