2011 Rome Golden Gala – Men’s 200 meters Posted: 28 May 2011 01:00 AM PDT Sorry, Usain, but the Men's 200 meters drew the loudest cheers during the race. The Men's 200 meters was a non Samsung Diamond League event with USA-born Italian Long Jumper Andrew Howe winning the race in an impressive 20.31, beating seasoned 200m specialists Shawn Crawford, and Christian Malcolm. I have videos from the TV feed as well as raw footage from my camcorder so you can just imagine how deafening the sound was as Howe inched closer to the finish line with every stride. (My HD camera chose a fine time to malfunction, so I am using my backup camera… sorry for the non-HD footage!) For Facebook and RSS Readers, click here

2011 Rome Golden Gala – Men’s 100 meters Heats Posted: 27 May 2011 09:30 AM PDT
Prior to the 8pm start time at the 2011 Rome Samsung Diamond League Golden Gala, they had 2 "pre-program" 100 meter races. Unfortunately, the winners do not go on to run the Final. That's too bad because 2 Canadians won, and these same two guys were running the 4×100m relay 2 hours later. (Maybe that's a good thing?) Jared Connaughton and Gavin Smellie both won their respective races and along with Oluyesi Smith, and Bryan Barnett, they won the 4×100m relay as well beating the Italian favorites (video to come later). Coupled with Dylan Armstrong's Shot Put victory, it was a good day for Canada!
