My favorite part of Thanksgiving as a kid was decorating. Well, OK, that's not strictly true. My favorite part was eating cookie dough while my Mom was trying to bake, but decorations were a close second.

Decorating for the holidays makes it seem like you've done a major renovation. Everything looks nicer gussied up, and you can feel good because you didn't have to pay a lot to make it happen.

Before the invention of the interwebs, we were forced to go to actual stores and pay money for Thanksgiving designs. (This is my version of walking to school in the snow, uphill both ways. Kids today! They don't know how easy they have it.)
